{"id":3272,"date":"2022-02-05T13:41:08","date_gmt":"2022-02-05T13:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tsms.org.in\/noida\/?page_id=3272"},"modified":"2022-02-18T12:20:22","modified_gmt":"2022-02-18T12:20:22","slug":"ib-diploma-programme-subjects-offered-at-tsms","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tsms.org.in\/noida\/ib-dp-section\/ib-diploma-programme-subjects-offered-at-tsms\/","title":{"rendered":"Subjects Offered At Tsms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Under each of the 6 subject groups the following subject choices are offered in IB DP at TSMS:<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"7\">\n<p>SUBJECT GROUPS AND SUBJECTS OFFERED AT TSMS<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><strong>SUBJECT GROUPS<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p><strong>GROUP 1:<\/strong>Studies in Language &amp; Literature<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p><strong>GROUP 2:<\/strong>Language Acquisition<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p><strong>GROUP 3:<\/strong>Individuals and Societies<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p><strong>GROUP 4:<\/strong>Sciences <\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p><strong>GROUP 5:<\/strong>Mathematics<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p><strong>GROUP 6:&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>The Arts<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><strong>SUBJECTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>English A: Language &amp; Literature (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Hindi B (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;French B (SL)<\/p>\n<p>Spanish B (SL)<\/p>\n<p>Spanish Ab Initio (SL)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Economics (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<p>Business Management (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<p>Psychology (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<p>Environmental Systems &amp; Societies (SL)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Physics (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<p>Chemistry (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<p>Biology (HL-SL)<\/p>\n<p>Environmental Systems &amp; Societies (SL)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Math Analysis &amp; Approaches<\/p>\n<p>Math Applications &amp; Interpretations<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>&nbsp;Visual Arts<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li>Students should select one subject from each of the 6 subject groups.<\/li>\n<li>In case a student does not want to select Group VI at all, he \/ she has the option to select an additional subject from either Group III or Group IV.<\/li>\n<li>Each subject can be selected only at one level &ndash; HL or SL.<\/li>\n<li>Students are required to take 3 subjects at Higher Level (HL) and 3 subjects at Standard Level (SL).<\/li>\n<li>HL courses entail 240 hours and SL courses entail 150 hours of teaching.<\/li>\n<li>HL and SL courses differ in scope but are measured according to the same grade descriptors, with students expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, understanding and skills at HL.<\/li>\n<li>Group II language pursued in Grade X will need to be taken at a subsequently higher level which is Language B in IB DP.<\/li>\n<li>Choice of Group II Language at the Ab Initio Level can only be selected if the student has not studied the language before\/is new to the language.<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Systems and Societies is a Standard Level (SL Only) interdisciplinary subject and fulfils the subject selection requirement either in Group 3 or in Group 4.<\/li>\n<li>Taking 3 science subjects is discouraged by IB and will be granted at the school&rsquo;s discretion in alignment with IB requirements.<\/li>\n<li>All students registering for the IB DP will also complete the requirements of the core, &#8211; Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Extended Essay (EE),<\/li>\n<li>Subjects offered in any year will be dependent on sufficient student demand and are at the school&rsquo;s discretion.<\/li>\n<li>The school will promote IB Diploma Programme. Although, case by case assessment of students requiring IB Course will be done.<\/li>\n<li>Students registered for individual courses can also register for EE and TOK.
